Journey with us to beautiful King Island where we will hear from beef producer, Ana Pimenta, about what can be done when you have vision and clear goals. Ana is passionate about sustainable farming and has a love of food and cooking inspired from her Portuguese heritage. Ana recently launched a farm tours venture called “Meat Your Beef (trialling crowd funding) and also runs her own catering business.
About Ana
Ana Pimenta, together with her husband, Tom Perry, and their young family, Alice (3 years) and Lucas (14 months) live on a beef farm on King Island where they run a herd of pure Angus and Angus cross grass-fed cattle. Ana has a degree with honours in Livestock Production. She is an active committee member of the King Island Beef Group and has developed and managed several sustainable agricultural projects as part of her job in the local Landcare group.
Ana and Tom started out with 30 head of cattle 7 years ago and have since grown their production to total 1000 head citing planned risks and determination as the key factors. Hailing from Portugal, Ana is passionate about food and sustainable farming. Recently the family launched a campaign called “Meat Your Beef” using the crowd funding model.
Ana also was a participant in the NRWC’s 2014/15 Women Towards Sustainability E-Leaders Program and organised a number of sustainability awareness projects as part of this program.
