I never pictured myself as a farmer. I have a business degree in marketing and worked in various Northern Territory Government agencies for over ten years, managing communications, until about five years ago when our third child was born. I was ready for a change, and there was an opportunity for me to become more involved in the farm’s marketing activities, website, and social media.

The NRWC is pleased to announce a new e-Leaders Program will soon be offered to rural, regional and remote women. This will be the 11the-Leaders Program that NRWC has delivered since 2011 (to over 200 women). Applications for the 2016 e-Leaders Social Media Program will open on Friday, 7th October at 8am AEST. Please watch this space for the online application form and more program information that will appear on this page.

King Island Success Story

Ana's story started when she came to King Island from Barcelos, Portugal to do work exchange on a local dairy farm.  She expected to stay for just six months. Ana came to King Island and met Tom, who also a shared passion for farming, animals and the environment and they are now happily married with two children.  Their farming enterprise started out with 30 head of cattle and they now run over 1000.

Kate Jenkins is a Year 11 student who was the Victorian winner of the 2015 Country to Canberra Essay Competition and was sponsored by the National Rural Women’s Coalition to visit Canberra late last year.  Kate hails from South Gippsland and loves living in the rural Australia as she never feels crowded, knows everyone and feels part of her community.
