Hannah Wandel is an Independent Director of the National Rural Women’s Coalition.
She is also a social entrepreneur, gender equality advocate, public speaker, and the founder and CEO of Country to Canberra: a national not-for-profit empowering young rural women to reach their leadership potential. Hannah is a Board Director at YWCA Canberra and a World Economic Forum Global Shaper. She also works full-time as a Social Policy Adviser at the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet, and prior to that, worked at the Department of Defence and as a broadcast journalist. She is a media commentator about gender, youth, and rural affairs and presents at events around Australia.
Hannah was named one of Australia's '100 Women of Influence' by the Australian Financial Review/Westpac in 2015, won a 2015 Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Scholarship, was a 2015 Finalist in the ACT Young Woman of the Year Award and was a 2016 NSW/ACT RIRDC Rural Women’s Award Finalist – the first-ever Canberran in the award’s 16-year history. She is passionate about proactively pursuing equality, and ensuring rural communities, and specifically youth, can thrive.
